Director’s Bio
Antonio Dorado is a Social Communicator with a Master’s degree in Colombian and Latin-American Literature and a specialist in Audiovisual Practices. He is professor in the School of Social Communication at the Universidad del Valle. He wrote the screenplay and directed the film EL REY, Colombian entry for Best Foreign Film in Oscar´s 2005 (USA), nominated in Goya Awards 2005 (Spain), and Best Colombian Film in the Bogota Film Festival.
He has participated in the production of documentaries and fictional projects which have been broadcast nationally and internationally. As documentary director, he has produced twenty-eight projects and has received recognition in twenty-six important events such as the San Juan Cinema Fest of Puerto Rico, the Bogotá International Film Festival, and the Cartagena International Film Festival, and has been named among the best audiovisual artists of Latin America at Encounter II, an event organized by UNESCO and INPUT (International Public Television).
His documentary project “In search of the river” won a grant from the Cinematography Affairs - Colombian Ministry of Culture and a fund from the Valle del Cauca Government. In 2006 Antonio Dorado directed the feature film “Adios Ana Elisa”, this film received a grant for production and postproduction.
